Rev. Tammy Hallam, Associate Pastor

I began my journey here at St. Mark’s on July 1, 2015. My husband, Jack, and I moved to Oro Valley from Phoenix, where we both lived for many years. We enjoy being closer to the mountains and a slower pace here along the Catalina Mountains. We have four daughters and seven grandchildren that we love to spend time with whenever we can.

I have served as a pastor and missionary in this region for over 15 years. From 1999 to 2003, I founded a nonprofit organization to serve those being affected by poverty in areas throughout Sonora, Mexico, and among the Indigenous in the south of Baja, Mexico. I then completed my seminary studies with a Master of Divinity in 2007 and was ordained by the Evangelical Covenant Church. To enlarge my understanding in walking alongside people in their faith journey, I completed a three-year program in Spiritual Direction in 2011. I also followed my passion in creating alternative worship experiences and became a certified Holy Yoga Instructor, currently leading classes at St. Mark’s. From 2005 to 2012, I served as the Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Paradise Valley Community in Phoenix, and The Bridge Covenant Church in Gilbert, Arizona from 2014-2015, before accepting an appointment to serve as Associate Pastor here at St. Mark’s. I believe the church is to be a place where people can explore who they are and who God is in a safe and encouraging environment. With that in mind, my passion is to create spaces where people can experience God in a loving and genuine community, as they seek to grow spiritually while also enjoying life together with others on the same journey.

For fun and rest, I love to spend time in nature, hiking in the White Mountains and enjoying the lake close to our cabin. I am also a “bookaholic” so would rather get comfy with a good book than watch TV. Jack and I enjoy sharing our lives with family and friends, especially around a table filled with great food and conversation.
