Dave
Ramsey's
Financial Peace University
Read below to learn what past
participants from St. Mark's have said about this course!
"The
class was well worth the time, I used to think "budget"
was a bad word, but this system teaches you how to make your money
work for you. We actually have "fun money" now! More
importantly, we agree on where to put our money. After a few
budget discussions, we reorganized our priorities and have been
able to increase our contribution to the church. That's a great
feeling. Our only regret is that we didn't have this information
early in our marriage. We'd recommend this class to anyone who
gets a paycheck -- young, old, married or single."
Mike and Kim Ogle
"The
class truly has given us financial peace in our marriage. For the
first time..., we are on the same page regarding financial
matters! The class time went by quickly, and we were so surprised
at how much we laughed and were able to have fun with the
group!"
Frank and Sandy DiCosola
"Being
a mortgage professional, I was curious to see what Dave Ramsey
would have to say about getting into and out of debt, how to build
an emergency fund, and how to approach home financing or
refinancing. His methodology is a solid one. If a person is trying
to get out of debt or wants to know how to build a nest-egg, FPU
is the place to start. This is advice that can be put into
practice from the first day."
Charles Moore
"It
feels great to be working together on all of the
financial aspects of our household! Even though we sometimes heard
things in class that we already knew, we weren't practicing them.
This was the first time anyone every gave us the structure
and the actual "how-to" information to make it happen!
We only wish we'd done this years ago, and we're delighted that
our daughter has the advantage of applying these principles much
earlier in life!"
Rich and Sandi Heilman
"The
FPU class helped me identify my financial goals, and helped me
determine a plan to reach those goals. It helped me see that
making a plan for both spending and saving is the best way to free
up money for guilt-free fun family activities. A plan for reducing
debt helps reduce day-to-day stress."

Before I went through Financial Peace University last year, I heard what all the talking-head financial gurus on TV had to say about getting my
finances in order: I needed to pay down debt, stop using credit cards, contribute regularly to an emergency fund, beef up my retirement contribution, yadda yadda yadda. It all made perfect sense and sounded responsible enough, but it was
overwhelming. I had no idea how to start. It seemed every paycheck was already spoken for before it ever landed in my bank account, and running up debt was our only solution to covering all the bills each month.
Financial Peace University broke it all down into bite-sized pieces — Baby Steps, actually —that made it not only achievable but fun. Our household hasn't used a credit card since last fall, and we've still managed to get through birthdays, Christmas and Easter without sacrificing quality of life for anyone involved. In fact, in some ways, that quality has improved tremendously. We have been paying down debt for all that time as well, which has put us in a much better place to deal with the current economy. Every month when we plan the finances, it really does feel like we're
living the story of the fishes and loaves, as we always miraculously seem to have more than enough to cover our needs.
