August Book Discussion

Our August book discussion is Strong at the Broken Places: Voices of Illness, a Chorus of Hope by Richard M. Cohen.  The book is an intimate look at living with chronic illness. The author himself has multiple sclerosis, and works with five participants who have various chronic illnesses to capture their stories and help others understand the overwhelming toll that chronic illness can take. The discussion will be led by Art Ragland.

St. Mark’s UMC is pleased to partner with PCOA to offer another A Matter of Balance program. This four week program runs Sept. 9 - Oct.  2, Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in St. Mark’s Fellowship Hall.  The program emphasizes the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle in order to reduce the risk of falling. You’ll learn to view falls as controllable, the role of assertiveness in fall prevention, and simple exercises to increase strength and balance. This program is open to people age 60 or older, who are ambulatory and able to problem solve. Note preregistration is required! Please call PCOA to register (520-790-7262) prior to Sept. 9. Once class begins, registration is closed. Class fees: $20/single or $30/couple.

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT! Join us for a dinner theater of PINOCCHIO, THE LEGEND OF THE WOODEN BOY, sponsored by St. Mark's Family Ministries and Live Theatre Worship. This is an original musical adaptation, and promises to be a fun show filled with masks, costumes, and shadow puppetry! For only $5 each you can enjoy a great pizza dinner and the show!
