Heroes of Faith Movie Series – “THE MISSION”

Join us for a "free" movie night at St. Mark's.  This month's feature, THE MISSION, stars Robert DiNero, Jeremy Irons, Aiden Quinn, Liam Neeson. This movie relates the experiences of a Jesuit missionary in 18th-century South America and the plight of the indigenous tribe under colonialism. Spanish Jesuit priest Father Gabriel (Irons) enters the northeastern Argentina and eastern Paraguayan jungle to build a mission station and convert a Guaraní community to Christianity who are not initially receptive to Christianity or outsiders in general. He is joined by a penitent conquistador and slaver (DiNero) as they both try to save the Guaraní from Portuguese colonialism, although they disagree on how this should be done. Although it has a 1986 PG rating, there is violence and runs two hours.  Linda Walker is the host. Popcorn will be provided. Bring your own beverage.
