Walk

When we hit the “pause” button on most things at St. Mark’s back in mid-March, we didn’t know how long it would be before we hit the “play” button again.  Well, most things are still on pause, but unlike most pause buttons that freeze forever, we do have things going even during this time.

Take a walk with me to see what’s going on.  Tune in to worship every Sunday at 9:45 a.m. on YouTube (St. Mark’s Oro Valley), Facebook live (St. Mark’s page), or on the website umcstmarks.org/live-worship.  I’ll say more in a moment about this Sunday’s (4/19) worship.

Let’s continue walking.  Every night at 7 p.m. you can join “Who’s With Me Tonight?” on St. Mark’s Facebook live.  Puppets, pastors and staff join you for a few minutes of Scripture, message and lively thoughts.

Where else can we go?  Would you like to connect people with our church by giving church members a call?  Pastor Stuart still needs people to help with Telecare – email him at stuart@umcstmarks.org

Our walk continues all the way to St. Mark’s Meditation Gardens.  If you truly want a beautiful place to connect with God and creation come and walk the labyrinth or the Way of the Cross.  Located on the southwest corner of our property.

Next week you can walk to your mailbox or inbox for a special edition of the Messenger newsletter, which will answer questions and give information about how long we anticipate the pause to be, how you can continue to give and serve, and what things are going on in the meantime.

Why I am writing about walking?  Well, mostly because Art and I get out and walk or hike most days so that’s on my mind.  Also….this Sunday, April 19th, we begin a new sermon series called, “Walk…With Christ”.  One of my dreams is to go back to the Holy Land and take a leisurely and prayerful walk through the places where Jesus lived and worked.   I want to do that in order to experience Jesus’ love and presence in a deep way.  In lieu of that actual walk, I want to invite you to go on this worship walk that will help us go deeper into our faith and into the love of Christ through worship, prayer, study, service, giving and sharing.

My prayer is that this series will bring us comfort and strength in these challenging times. Walk with me, says Jesus, and I will walk with you, to build the land which God has planned, where love shines through!

Blessings, Sharon

P.S. Remember that although our church office is closed, phone messages are checked regularly. Routine calls are returned as soon as possible. If you have an emergency, call 297-2062 and choose the “emergency” prompt, leave a message and a pastor is contacted immediately.
