Tonight, August 10 – begins 5 p.m. – Food Truck Café and Family Water Fun Night!  Great fun for all ages.

Sunday, August 12 – Rally Day means new Sunday School classes for children and youth, new opportunities to sign up for adult classes, and a chance to see and sign up for short-term mission projects.  Come to Fellowship Hall for info for adults.

New sermon series begins – “Connecting God and the World – the Church in Mission”.  We begin with “Mission Work…Then and Now”.  How was mission work done well and poorly in the past?  To what does Jesus call us now?  See you in church at 8:15, 9:45 or 11:15 (The Gathering).

A prayer for new beginnings of the school year, new opportunities at church, and more:

Come, Holy Spirit, come.  Rest lightly upon our hearts, and bring us peace, comfort and strength.  We are yours, today and every day.  We give our lives to you in humility and service.  Today we pray for teachers, students, and school staff from preschools to graduate schools, and ask that you open hearts to learn, give wisdom to teach, and keep everyone safe and well.  Help us remember, O God, that our most important task is to grow in following Jesus, in not only learning about him, but in receiving him deeply into our hearts and lives.  Help us understand him, know him and love him, so our words and actions reflect our commitment to being his disciple.  Guard our schools, our churches, our world, so that all people may have life in you, and live with joy and hope.  Help us choose your life every day.  In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen.
