Making a Difference

This month in worship we have focused on those small things that can make a big difference in our world. Gratitude. Perseverance. Humility. Prayer. Faith. These seemingly small things, in the hands of God, can transform your life and the lives of those around you.

The same is true of your financial gifts, whether big or small. Our church makes a difference locally through our missional partnerships with ICS, TIHAN, Youth on Their Own, the Wesley Foundation (Frontera Wesley), Emerge!, Tucson Refugee Ministry, Nash Elementary School, and more. Our community of love and possibility touches people with nourishment, encouragement and hope.

This work is multiplied by every United Methodist congregation around the world. Together, 12.6 million United Methodists make a difference on a global scale from food ministries, clothing ministries, rebuilding lives, building hospitals and schools, funding scholarships and reaching out to communities.

As part of the United Methodist connection, our gifts stretch far beyond local congregations. When you give through this church, your gifts are shared through the United Methodist Church and your generosity is felt in communities around the world. Together, we support education through funds like the Black College Fund and the Ministerial Fund, bring aid to millions of people in need and support spiritual care for a hurting world.

As you consider and give thanks for all the ways in which God has blessed you, your gift joins with others, adding up to so much more than the sum of their parts to impact this church, the community and God’s world. Thank you for your faithful generosity.

How will you give to the work in the church in this coming year? If you have attended and signed into worship or have given financially to the church in the last 18 months, you received a letter earlier this month with a pledge card in it. We asked you to prayerfully consider letting us know your financial commitment to the church in the coming year. This commitment helps our Finance Committee to properly budget for our ministries for the year. Bring your card to worship on Commitment Sunday Oct. 30 or before, mail it in, or fill it out online. If you didn’t receive a card, look for one in the narthex on Sunday or find it on our website here: https://umcstmarks.org/giving/.

Thank you for prayerfully considering your financial commitment, allowing St. Mark’s to change the world through Christ by caring for all people.

See you soon,
Pastor Lynn
