Holy Week and Easter Sunday at St. Mark’s

Community Egg-Stravaganza Saturday, April 1, 2023

Featuring an Easter egg hunt, games, crafts, face painting, jumping castle, cookie decorating and cupcake walk. 9 a.m. to noon.

 

Palm/Passion Sunday, April 2

Including palm fronds, a cantata featuring both choirs, and Holy Communion. Both services: 8:30 and 10 a.m.

Potluck cookout on the patio at St. Mark’s. The church will provide the hotdogs and drinks; you bring a side to share (a bag of chips or deli potato salad counts!). Members from the Sanctuary UMC family will join us as we get to know
each other and talk more about the potential merger. More information from the Merger Task Force will be available as well. Starting at 11:30 a.m.

 

Maundy (Holy) Thursday, April 6

Foot washing and Holy Communion at Sanctuary UMC, 7620 N. Hartman Lane. Noon.

Guided tour of the Stations of the Cross in the Mediation Gardens. 5 p.m.

Foot washing and Holy Communion with Celebration Singers at St. Mark’s. 6:30 p.m.

Good Friday, April 7

Guided tour of the Stations of the Cross in the Mediation Gardens. 5 p.m.

Experience Good Friday through a powerful performance of “Have You Seen My Son?” by Jon McCauley Smith. It is the story of Jesus’ journey to the cross as seen through the eyes of important people in his life. 6:30 p.m.

 

Holy Saturday, April 8

Enjoy meditative Lenten harp music in the Meditation Gardens. 1-2 p.m.

 

Easter Sunday, April 9

Come watch the sun rise as the youth lead the annual Sunrise Service, starting at 6:15 a.m. Or join traditional services at 8:30 or 10 a.m. featuring choirs, organ and brass. And between services, be sure to enjoy a pancake breakfast prepared by the youth as a fundraiser for their summer Sierra Service Project mission trip!

 

All week long, pamphlets will be available at the Meditation Gardens for self-guided tours.
