How Do We Discern Our Gifts?

By Rev. Lynn Bartlow, Lead Pastor

We are an active church!

St. Mark’s is blessed to offer wonderful opportunities to serve and to learn as we live life together. Last weekend, we packed 17,000 meals for Rise Against Hunger. I love getting to see everyone in net hair coverings and gloves, working hard and having fun together as we help alleviate hunger here and around the world.

This is just one example of what St. Mark’s does. But it’s not just about our missions. Our church offers various ministries and opportunities for service where your gifts can be put into action. Whether it’s joining the praise team on the Sanctuary Campus, participating in outreach programs, or serving in youth or children’s ministry, there is a place for everyone to contribute and make a meaningful impact. We have committees focused on justice, worship space preparation, and guiding our Counselor-in-Residence program. There’s a place where your unique talents fit, and the church eagerly welcomes the valuable contributions you bring!

But how do you know where you fit? Glad you asked! On Jan. 21 we are kicking off a new Discover tool in which you will be able to learn about all the volunteer opportunities that we have at St. Mark’s. Whether you have volunteered here for many years or are new to our church, our Discover tool will help match your gifts and interests. Come to worship and we will share more!

As you know, the beauty of serving in the church lies in the diversity of our gifts and the unity of our purpose. As we each play our part, the body of Christ is strengthened and our impact is magnified. Let us joyfully embrace the call to serve in every way possible, enriching our church family and glorifying God.

Thanks for making St. Mark’s your home!
See you soon,
Pastor Lynn

PS – Don’t forget it’s Human Relations Day this week!
