Invitations

“Coffee With the Pastor” is simply a time of conversation with me over Zoom. You don’t have to drink coffee to come! In fact, I drink tea rather than coffee so I suppose I might have called these gatherings “tea with the pastor” but that sounds kind of formal. I’ll be hosting “Coffees” at 11 a.m. on Sundays, Feb. 21 and 28 for about 45 minutes. You don’t have to register. Just use the Zoom link below. By now many of you know that I’m retiring on June 30, so on our coffees I’ll share some of what led to that decision and our plans for retirement. Here’s the link:

Coffees will also be held on March 14 and 21 if you can’t make the February ones. I’ll provide a new link for those when the time comes.

Another invitation: At 9 a.m. on Sundays during Lent (Feb. 21 and 28, March 7, 14, 21) you can drive in for live worship in the south parking lot. Enter on La Cañada and you will be directed to an area to park. Larger vehicles will be toward the back and sides so everyone can see. Pastors and musicians will be live and you’ll hear by turning on your car radio to a designated FM station. Worship lasts about 40 minutes. Recorded worship will continue as usual at 9:45 a.m.

Even as I point toward my June 30 retirement, I remain fully committed to leading you over these next four months. We have a lot to do at St. Mark’s, in Jesus’ name. Our Genesis Team continues to watch COVID-19 data to determine when we will reopen our buildings for worship, office hours and classes. Our focus is always on “changing the world through Christ by caring for all people,” which is our mission statement.

In worship during Lent, we’re going on a journey to the ancient city of Philippi. Have you ever gotten a letter that lets you know about what’s on the writer’s heart and mind? Brings you joy and lifts your spirits? Challenges you to want to know more? We’ll be looking at the book of Philippians, which is a letter like that, one of joy and challenge, which is great for the season of Lent.

Lent is a great time to invite someone else to join you in worship.

Blessings,
Sharon
