Living Into Our New Mission Statement

We gather, connect, and serve so all may experience the love of Christ.

By Rev. Lynn Bartlow, Lead Pastor

These next seven days offer each of us multiple chances to live out our church’s mission statement, found above. We will gather on the pickleball court. We will gather around the Thanksgiving table. We will gather to worship and to give thanks. We will connect with each other as we eat hot dogs Sunday and turkey on Thursday. We will connect with God through worship Sunday and our Thanksgiving Eve service on Wednesday. We will serve our neighbors through our collections of food, gift cards, and gifts (see all the opportunities in this week’s e-blast or in the bulletin). We will serve our neighbors through our special Thanksgiving offering. We will serve one another as we volunteer to clean up after the meal on Thursday. We will serve one another as we decorate for Advent on the 25th.

We do all of this, not to stay busy, but to share the love of Christ with one another. We share the love of Christ when we sit in a different seat in worship because someone else has sat in “ours.” We share the love of Christ when we talk with someone we don’t know before we talk with our friends, or when we stop a conversation with our friends to invite someone else in. We share the love of Christ when we invite someone to come to church with us. We share the love of Christ when we give generously to the daily work of the church, not simply the special projects we like to fund. We share the love of Christ when we show up for worship and studies.

Thanks for being the church.

See you soon!
Pastor Lynn
