WOW

In worship this week, Pastor Kim will lead us in pondering the Third Essential Prayer, WOW. When’s the last time you had a WOW moment? Anne Lamott calls it that moment when our mind is blown away by the mesmerizing or the miraculous. It’s seeing the Grand Canyon for the first time, or the first time in a while. It’s looking out over the hills at all of the saguaros. It’s holding a brand-new baby in your arms and seeing a new life.

Many of you shared your wow moments with us in photo, and we thank you. But most of those moments aren’t captured by camera. They are lived. They are experienced. It’s the praise team leading us in an energetic and enthusiastic song of praise of God. It’s the moving finale of Messiah, with all the choir singing the Hallelujah Chorus. It’s the symphony of a canoe trip through the cypress swamp. It’s the overwhelming architecture of a cathedral. It’s the intricate work of a Renoir or a Cassatt.

Wow moments cause us to pause in disbelief. It’s the justice work of student loans forgiven. It’s the awe of the biggest climate change bill in history being passed. It’s the sheer volume of food that is collected and distributed by our partners here in Tucson. It’s the work of countless volunteers to provide services to refugees in our community.

What has caused you to say WOW this week? Wow moments are all around us, if we take note. See you in worship Sunday as we consider the WOWness of God.

See you soon,
Pastor Lynn
